International Standardization for Organizations (ISO) is an independent body which issues certificates to company’s assuring that the product, service, or system in question meets specific requirements as per their standards.
Certification is most often associated with ISO 9001 which is quality management system standard and the environmental management systems standard ISO 14001. However, certification programs exist for a range of management systems standards, including the ISO/IEC 27001 program for information security management, the ISO 22000 program for food safety management, the ISO 50001 program for energy management, facility management system standard that is ISO 41001, and the ISO 45001 program for occupational health and safety management.
Certification Body is a third-party company contracted to assess and evaluate the system of the organization to the requirements of the appropriate standard and issue a certificate based on conformity to an organization.
Accreditation body is the organization which serves as third party recognition of competence and performs specific task such as testing, sampling, calibration, inspection and certification of product, process, service, management system, person, or an organization by ensuring that the certification body, testing laboratories, inspection agency and other conformity assessment bodies meet the established standard and compliance with codes of conduct.
An organisation that provides certification, testing, calibration, inspection and other conformity assessment services can seek accreditation. An accredited body has demonstrated that it fully meets the requirements of relevant national and international standards.
Essential Standardization Institution Private Limited (ESIPL / ESI Certification) is the certification body accredited by ASCB who is authorised to assess and provide the management system certification to the organization as per the conformance of the specific international management system standard.
Accreditation Service for Certifying Bodies (ASCB) is an independent authority established in 1995 to accredit any organization that issues certificates of qualification, attainment, or compliance.
ASCB is headquartered in the USA and is globally recognized which gives ESI Certification the authority and global recognition to certify companies in International Management System Standards.
ISO certification is an ongoing process, it is not merely a single event because once certified, that certification needs to be maintained and renewed by complying with the international standard requirements.
However, depending on the size and complexity of the organization it could take between 1-3 months of time to achieve the initial certification. After the certification there is a cycle of surveillance audit to maintain and continual improvement of the system. (Click here for more information)
The cost of getting certified in different standard will vary depending on the size and complexity of your organization and on whether you already have some elements of a quality management system (QMS) in place.
Surveillance audit is the reassessment and audit conducted by the external auditor (certification body) to find out whether management system of the certified organization meet the requirement of standard on day-to-day operation or not.
Surveillance audit requires to be conducted at least once in a year. Surveillance audit must be conducted within 12 months of certification.
Certification is being issued by the Certification body after assessing and auditing the Management system of the organization as per the conformance of the requirements of the standard.

No, you will not be required to appoint a Quality Officer. However, it is recommended to appoint someone as the Management Representative (MR) who will assist the consultants & take the responsibility of getting the organization certified by successful project completion.
